Job Title – Business Intelligence Developer – Data Warehousing Analyst

JOB PURPOSE – Business Intelligence Developer

To develop reports, visualisations, and dashboards as required to present data in an informative way, to support the continuing needs of my clients’ group of companies. This role will also have responsibilities for the development and sustainment of data warehouses and some maintenance of databases within the company


1 Obtain, document, and interpret business requirements.
2 Develop, test, maintain, deploy and present KPI’s, reports, visualisations and dashboards using suitable Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting tools to present business data appropriately.
3 Develop Data Warehouses in order to allow the collation of data from multiple sources ready for use in reports.
4 Investigate, analyse and document reported defects.
5 Perform maintenance on reports and correct identified defects.
6 Maintain technical documentation relating to reports
7 Ensure that the Source Control Management system is used effectively to store report definition files.
8 Monitor the performance of reports.
9 Create scheduled tasks to distribute reports on a regular basis, using the tools supplied.
10 Monitor and investigate Scheduler errors, resolving as appropriate.
11 Extract data from in-house databases and present the data when required on an ad-hoc basis.
12 Ensure users are able to access self-serve reports and BI tools with the required availability and appropriate security.
13 Assist with the monitoring and optimisation of database performance.
14 Assist with troubleshooting and help resolve any database or data-related issues.
15 Assist in other data-related activities, such as data migration and data cleansing.
16 To undertake other duties of an appropriate nature in consultation with their Line Manager.
17 Ensure that BI solutions are properly documented and tested.
18 Development and testing of disaster recovery plans.
19 Assist with ensuring database integrity and security
20 Assist with producing and updating full and proper documentation relating to the databases, including logical and physical data models.



1 Advanced T-SQL experience within Microsoft SQL Server.
2 Experience in BI development (e.g. Power BI).
3 Advanced user of Microsoft Excel (including Pivot Tables and Macros)
4 Analytical and problem-solving skills.
5 Good attention to detail.
6 Team player.
7 Excellent communication skills.
8 Experience in data warehouse design including using “Star Schemas”.
9 Experience in UML and other design techniques.


1 Degree in IT, Science or Maths.
2 Experience with SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
3 Experience of developing SQL Reports using tools such as Jasper Reports or Crystal Reports.
4 Experience using tools such as Asana, Redmine, and Google Apps.
5 Experience using source control systems such as Git or SVN.
