The role – An IT Project Manager
Duties as a Project Manager include;
●Acting as project manager on multiple simultaneous IT projects.
●Assisting other project managers within the IT department.
●Work with all areas of the department, including the Head of Business Systems, Developers, Testers, Business Analysts and support teams, whilst remaining objective regarding their responsibilities.
●Collaborate with all project stakeholders to ensure successful delivery of projects.
●Ensuring project objectives are agreed.
●Organising the various teams and departments working on a project.
●Carrying out risk assessments.
●Maintaining project documentation templates.
●Ensuring representatives from the Project team are present for all project meetings.
●Forward plan the release windows and cycles, in conjunction with IT management, Business Support Development teams, and other business stakeholders. Release cycles may include updating software applications, database changes, reports and other related tasks.
●Ensure that items to be included in the next release cycles are on target, including specification sign-off, development, testing, training and documentation.
●Provide roll-back plans, manage risks, and resolve issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality, escalating where necessary.
●Ensure that users are informed of any system downtime due to planned maintenance and upgrades.
●Lead and coordinate the go-live activities including the execution of the deployment plans and checklists.
●Perform post release reviews, documenting any issues and feedback. Continually work towards making improvements in the release process.
Your previous experience as an IT Project Manager would include;
●Project management qualification (Prince2 Practitioner or similar)
●Degree level education (preferably in a relevant field)
●Well-developed interpersonal skills
●Excellent communication skills
●Experience of managing projects
●Management and leadership skills
●Managed infrastructure projects
●Managed software development projects
