Infrastructure Engineer – Wigan
I am looking for an experienced Infrastructure / Network Engineer to fulfil a brand-new role I have available for a company near Wigan.
The company – a large manufacturing organisation with an excellent reputation for looking after their staff.
The role – Infrastructure Engineer, someone who can support all the technical systems within the company with around 250 users. You will be involved in planning, developing, installing, configuring, maintaining, supporting, and optimising various types of virtualisation, server, storage and network hardware, software and communication links.
As an Infrastructure Engineer you will be responsible for;
·Providing my clients group staff with 2nd and 3rd line Server/desktop/network support.
·Supporting and implementing any new hardware including IT systems, networking, and software.
·Monitoring and maintaining computer systems and networks.
·Troubleshooting system and network problems and diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults.
·Replacing equipment and solutions as required.
·Providing support, including procedural documentation.
·Administration of backups, antivirus, server patching and security systems.
·Updating and installing systems.
·Report any accident or incident.
·Liaise with third party suppliers and support staff and co-ordinate security roll-outs.
·Ensure safety in the workplace and in this respect ensuring compliance with all instructions relating to the use and storage of materials/equipment necessary for the performance of his/her tasks.
·Provide out of hours’ support, when needed and due to availability.
·Follow health and safety policies and procedure at all times.
·Co-ordinating and managing security roll outs with the business
As an experienced Infrastructure Engineer you will have experience of most of the following;
At least 3-4 years’ experience within a similar Infrastructure Engineer role
§Understanding of Windows Server Operating Systems 2008 onwards including Active Directory, WSUS, SMTP, File Services, and NPS.
§Knowledge of Cisco and Networking
§An understanding for networking to include TCP/IP, IPv4, IPv6, Sub netting, VLAN 802.1Q, Wireless 802.11 B/G/N/AC
§Documentation and technical drawing skills for network design
§Knowledge of TCP/IP protocol and ISO/OSI model
§Have good knowledge of MS Office applications
§Have a knowledge of cloud-based solutions
§Understanding of storage systems and protocols (NFS/CIFS/iSCSI/FC)
§Virtualisation concepts using Citrix and VMware inc. ESXi 5+ XenApp/Desktop 7.5+
§Understanding of Google Apps for Work and Google Hosted Services
